Funbox at Skatedium

23 01 2010

I haven’t been skating for ages, everybody knows that, and I don’t think I need to explain why I haven’t been skating. But last Tuesday, I went to Skatedium coz Bahrum informed me that they’re building a new funbox there. So I went there on Tuesday and skated there for abit with Samsul on Wednesday. Here’s a short edit I did with Samsul.

The Shape (The experiment part 2)

15 01 2010

Here’s a short film Adam and me made sometimes last month. This was done as part of our experiment with storyboarding, DOP and equipment. We were only using my 500D with 50mm f/1.8, 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 and Pentex 135 f/3.5. Only available lights were used. We got the chance to try out the my DIY mini dolly and the new glidecam we just acquired. I think it took us about 6 hours to get the whole story done. Could’ve been better if we had done pre-planning before shooting hahaha but it was all good and fun.

DIY Mini Dolly

12 01 2010

I managed to do finish another DIY project. This time, I was making myself a DIY mini dolly using 1/2′ rails, small angle iron and my rollerblade bearings! Here’re are iphone pictures of the dolly.

And here’s a quite edit I made.

Glidecam Experiment

8 01 2010

Hi. It’s been a while I’ve posted here. Will try to blog more often. Anyways, here’s a short video that we put together testing the Glidecam 4000 Pro & Smooth Shooter. I was operating the XL2 on the glidecam while Adam was on the 500D with the shoulder mount.

This video was actually done after we got back from a wedding. It was really fun BUT tiring! Sore shoulder and back! I was operating the glidecam from 10-530, so yea… but it was really fun. I need more practice with it, but I’m getting the hang of it now. Can’t wait to take it out to the next wedding.

Oh yea, speaking of weddings, for 2010, I will be doing more wedding coverage with my partner in crime, VAdam Groves of Visual Dimensions Productions. I will be one of the 3 camera operators and the glidecam operator as well. I will try to blog more about my experience with the glidecam in the near future. If anyone’s interested to learn or share knowledge about the glidecam, please do so and email me surkrew[at]gmail[dot]com.

So if you’re getting married or know anyone who’s getting married, contact us to be YOUR wedding videographers. Interesting packages are offered. Contact us for more details.

DIY Viewfinder for D-SLR

8 11 2009

After going through alot of DIY pictures and forums, I’ve finally managed to finish one of my (many) DIY works for my 500D: DIY magnified viewfinder.

DIY Viewfinder side view

Based on the design from here, I gathered the required materials needed: magnifying glass, a small square container, a couple of 2inch pvc pipes, matte black spray paint and hot glue.

I didn’t take a step-by-step pictures but here you can see the first prototype I did. Note the eyepiece from my DVX100.

And here’s another picture from another angle.
