Here’s a short behind the scenes video edit for the Salam Aidilfitri photoshoot.

Behind The Scenes: “Salam Aidilfitri”

28 09 2009

Here’re a few pictures from the photoshoot for the Hari Raya greeting card that we (Zati and I) made for this year.

I came about with the idea a few weeks before Hari Raya. I was inspired to take the picture when I remembered seeing Bala’s picture a couple of years ago doing a fishbrain on a ledge wearing his traditional Indian clothing during deepavali. (I can’t find the link to the picture now, else, I would have posted that picture here. Bala, Keats, or someone who has the picture, could you guys send it to me or gime the link so I can post it here. thanks).

I talked to Zati about the idea and we agreed to it. In order to keep it as a surprise, we limited the number of people who would help out during the photoshoot and to find a suitable, quite place that we can do the shoot. I asked help from my cousin, Saiful, and a fellow rollerblader, Asnalicious. Both of them were really helpful during the shoot.

When we arrived at Muara beach, we had a few test shoots and tried to find a decent angle. Since it was almost 11am, it was really hot and the lightings were difficult to set up. We end up using only available light as we did not have enough strobe power.

Asnalicious was the man behind the camera. He’s been asking me questions about DSLRs as he’s wanting to get one for himself. He was eager to help out during the shoot and he can play around with my camera.

I asked Saiful to help me take videos during the whole photoshoot. I will be posting a short video within this week for the short behind the scenes videos. UPDATE: The video has been uploaded. Click here to see the video.

There were also a funny moment when we had to help Zati get on top of the ramp. It wasn’t really a good idea to get her up there since she’s pregnant! But Alhamdulillah, nothing bad happened and we got the picture we needed.

These last few pictures were other alternatives that we had prior to settling with the chosen picture.

After we got the shot, we moved onto the small hut nearby for some post-wedding picture. I haven’t processed all the pictures yet, but here’s one as a teaser.

I would like to thank Zati, Saiful and Asnalicious to make this photoshoot happen. InsyaAllah we can come up with something similar or even better for next year. Once again, thank you very much.

What’s been happening

29 07 2009

Man, it’s been a month since my last update. I should be paying more attention to this blog. Anyways, let’s see what’s been happening this past month.

First up, there was the 3rd installment of the Brunei Rollerblading Street competition 2009 held on the last 15 July. It was planned to start at the stadium, 2nd round at Badiah and final spot at Pizzahut. But it rained when we went to Badiah. The organiser (RPS Enterprise) had to come up with a new plan. It was decided that the first spot was the curly box, the long rail as 2nd spot and a combination of curly box, long rail and short box as a run-style best trick comp. There were 35 skaters in total that joined the competition ranging from the veterans to the newbies. 12 skaters made it to the 2nd round and only 6 to the finals.

The finalist included Ating, Muiz and the 4 RPS team riders (Samsul, Cefu, Koo and Eyan[myself]). In the end, I was announced as the winner of the competition and getting the all expenses paid trip to Singapore and a chance to represent Brunei in the upcoming Singapore East Cost Skatepark challange oragnised by ESPN (if I’m not mistaken). I didn’t expected to win but I was definitely thrilled!! Click here to read the full story that was covered by The Brunei Times.

Here’s a short video of the comp done by Bahrom of RPS

InsyaAllah we (Bahrom, Samsul, my wife and myself) will be going to Singapore August 28-30. Hopefully I can get permission from the office to go out of the country. It’s been hard to go out due to the outbreak of the H1N1 cases. Click here to get more reports from the event.

It was a long weekend for us since it was a holiday in conjunction with Isra’ Mi’raj yesterday (Monday 21/7/09). We (my cousins, bro-in-laws and myself) joined a futsal tournament early Sunday morning. We won 1 and lost 3 games out of the 5 teams group. But it was fun though since that was the first time we all actually played together hehehe may be we’ll be more organised in the future (if we decided to join another competition that is hehe)

And we also watched Harry Potter and the half blood prince. I’m not a big fan of Harry Potter but my wife, her brothers and my cousin really wanted to watch the movie. And so we went and the movie was…… I feel asleep a couple of times. It’s not that the movie was bad, I wasn’t just interested that much hehe

spring 1

The last couple of weeks, it was, what we called, spring season at our place. There were flowers everywhere and it was really beautiful. My wife kept saying that she felt like she was in Korea hahaha

spring 2

But spring ended only for a week or so. It was already autumn the next week with flowers all over the place.

And now, there’re only leaves on the trees. It looks just like any ordinary tree la. I heard from the news that from February to May, the flowers start to grow and from June to September, the flowers are everywhere (on trees and on ground). I learn that the trees are imported from the Mexico and can be found in a number of places throughout Brunei. Interesting facts. :)

I’m still working on my video edit for the Digital Video Battle. The last date of submission is on the 31 July 2009.

Hopefully I can finish it on time. I’m like 80-90% done with the video, but I’m still not quite happy with it. It’s like something is still missing. And my computer is getting slower and slower. I miss editing with Final Cut.

July is normally the festive season of the year for Brunei as we are celebrating His Majesty Sultan’s birthday. Colorful lights are set up and displayed everywhere, most noticeably in the BSB area. The only difference this year is that all performances are postponed due to the H1N1. But the nightly stalls are still up. I haven’t go to the stalls yet. Only went to bandar a couple of nights before the stall started operation.

I thought this would be a nice time and opportunity to pull off that Dustin Diaz looks.

I guess that’s pretty much it. Life as a husband and wife is really great! Waking up next to your lovely wife, breakfast/lunch/dinner prepared by wife, laundry done by wife… it’s all good! I love my wife! She rocks! Can’t wait for 1 new addition to the family! ;)

JP Ramp Session

10 05 2009

1 month later

13 08 2008

Wow.. my last post was back in July 16th. It’s almost been a month now. So what’s up?

I’ve been juggling my time all this months between work, loved ones, my activities, my blogs and alot of other things. Work has definitely taken up alot of my time, but I can’t do anything about that… I still gota work to make a living. I was suppose to have my work leave in March and June, but it was delayed due to work committments.

My last holiday was back in December 2007, and it’s finally good to have a 3 weeks holiday. My leave started on 21st July 08 and lasted on 8th August 08. So that means my last day of work was on the 18th July and due to work on 11th August. So let’s see what’s been happening.

19/7/08
I played friendly Futsal at Harun’s gym with my work mate playing against Bruneian-UK students in the morning, and in the evening, we went to see the fireworks in Tutong.

20/7/08
Had a short photoshoot session at JP for an upcoming project organised by RockPaperScissors. Normally, you’d see the regulars, but this time, just see this:

That’s right! Brunei do have girl rollerbladers! Just stay tune and find out about it more in the near future.

After JP, we then went to Lambak and got some shoots there.

More pictures here.

As there was some fireworks display later that night set at the Jubliee park in Kiulap, we went to the RIPAS jetty area and watched the fireworks from there. Here’s a picture taken by Zaty.

21/7/08
Went out to Yayasan’s UNI Arcade just for fun. Besides, it was my cuzen’s birthday, so yea…

22/7/08
Had a short skate photoshoot with Samsul at the indoor stadium fountain area for an upcoming interview to be featured at my website.

23/7/08
Had a futsal tournament (DSA Futsal tourny) in the evening at JKR sports complex. It sucks! We lost all 6 games that night! hahahaha worst result ever man, so let’s not talk about that hahahahaha

24/7/08
Had another skate photoshoot. This time, I did it for Cefu. This was also for an upcoming online interview to be featured on my website.

27/7/08
Went to Seria OGDC in the afternon around 1ish coz my friends and I was invited to do a short rollerblading demonstration during the Brunei Extreme Skateboarding Competition 2008. It would have been good if rollerblading was included in the competition, but sadly, it wasn’t. So demonstration was only offered to us. It was good, but the skatepark could have been better.

More pictures can be found here.

After the demo, had to rush back to Bandar because I have to attend the office’s 25th Year Anniversary galanight at Empire Hotel.

28/7/08
Went to Miri to buy Zaty’s bro’s bike parts. Had lunch at Pizzahut. Haven’t uploaded the pictures yet hehehe

29/7/08 to 31/7/08

My cuz, Zati and I went to KK for a short visit. We were planning to go to the new One Borneo shopping complex as recommended by Zaty’s father. The place is HUGE! But when we were there, not all shops have opened. So yea, ok ok lah…

I was driving the whole time.

This dude is the owner of the shop. This was taken in Lawas, after getting our passports stamped.

Nasi Lemak Ayam for breakfast at Kopitiam.

1/8/08
Attended Zaty’s cousin’s wedding in Lambak.

3/8/08
Attended my cousin’s wedding in Pandan, KB.

My mom with her mother and siblings.

6/8/08
Went to Miri again to get Zaty’s bro’s bike parts, again… The last week, the bro installed new racing parts (racing block, racing piston, clutch, springs etc). His friend borrowed the bike, and ended up screwing the piston! So we went there and got a new piston for the bike. I wasn’t suppose to get anything, but I end up buying a new set of rims for my bike! hehehe It cost me RM390, where the original price was RM590.

8/8/08 Ikin’s engagement
Went to Pandan, KB to Ikin’s engagement. I didn’t bring my camera, so no picture. Went there around 2 coz the event started at 3.30. Met with Yamin, Itri, Audrey and some others. It was nice catching up with them. After the event, we went to send Audrey to her place some where in Jangsak.

10/8/08 syelah wedding
Went to Tutong around 2ish for Zaty’s friend’s wedding, Syelah, at Dewan Kemasyarakatan in Tutong.

11/8/08

I’m suppose to start working on the 11th, but during my leave, I got a text message from my collegue that I’ll be having a 4 day Microsoft Access training somewhere in Rimba. So far, I’m enjoying the training, at least I don’t have to wake up that early coz it starts at 8am. Lunch is from 12-1.45 and finish at 4.10pm. So it’s all goodd :D I’ll be back to office this Friday.

So what’s next for me? Well, besides work, I still need to finish up a few things for my SURKREW website. I’m yet to email pictures to a few people. I’ll be going to the car show this coming Saturday and Sunday. But on Sunday morning, I’ll be going to Sg. Liang / Lumut for the Liang/Lumut bike expedition; no, I’m not joining the expedition, my dad and 2nd bro is joining, so yea.. in the afternoon, I’ll be going to my friend’s wedding, Mona. And after that, I might go to Indoor stadium again. And not forgetting, our anniversary is TOMORROW! Still not sure what we’ll do tomorrow.. we’ll see..

So yea, that’s about 1 month worth of happenings. Hopefully I’ll be able to update more often rather than this kinda of posts hahahaha
